A few years ago dad was diagnosed with Mesothelioma.  The outcome of this is never good news and the patient usually has approximately 10 – 12 months left to enjoy life.

Taunton Garrison are known for their spectacular historical re-enactments and were doing a civil war event at Dunster Castle so we decided to head there to watch – and of course take a few photos!

It was amazing to watch and very educational – they were lovely to talk to and more than happy for us to take photos afterwards.

The Taunton Garrison can provide a wide range of entertainment both military and civilian from the late sixteenth to late seventeenth century.  They perform various Living History skills,  also small skirmishes and weapons demonstrations.

They  cover three main historical periods -

The Spanish Armada of 1588,

the English Civil War of the 1640′s 

and the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685. 

Dunster Castle is dramatically sited on a wooded hill, a castle has existed there since at least Norman times, with an impressive medieval gatehouse and ruined tower giving a reminder of its turbulent history.

The castle that you see today became a lavish country home during the 19th century for the Luttrell family, who lived here for 600 years.

The castle boasts spectacular views toward the Bristol channel, the Quantock hills and up to the moors of Exmoor.

It is a beautiful venue for events and weddings

We were making our way to Bishops Hull Primary School for their annual May Day fair, not sure what to expect as it was our first time displaying our work.

There was a real buzz from the stall holders and organisers as everyone got ready for the afternoon event – with donkey rides, bouncy castle, coconut shy, hog roast, cakes there was something for everyone.

Starting off with a dance display,  children and parents then had chance to enjoy the games, gifts, food and drink and of course the sun! The day ended with a tug-of-war

Wow, wow, wow!

We recently did a photo shoot at Crowcombe Court for a new dress collection by Katherine Westwood Couture for Abbi Chapel Bridal.

Crowcombe court is the most amazing location for photographing brides (and grooms) there were so many little nooks and crannies – Pete and I were in our element.  We nearly forgot we were there to do a job!

 Nestling in the Quantocks, Crowcombe court is a  magnificent 1730s house in the English Baroque style. Perfect for your wedding.  The views are stunning and the rooms are amazing. David and Kate have done a fantastic job restoring it.

 You will find Abbi Chapel Bridal in the village of West Buckland in Somerset, perfectly located for brides coming from Taunton, Wellington, Bridgwater, Bristol and surrounding areas.

And being just under a mile from junction 26 M5 they are also conveniently situated for brides coming from Devon especially Exeter, Tiverton and Exmoor.

The studio is all set up as a magical fairy glen with butterflies, rabbits, squirrels, hedgehogs and of course fairies.  There is a little bridge over a babbling brook where if they look carefully enough they might see a few goldfish!

The children can choose which fairy dress they want to wear – kindly donated by Seraphina Fairy Tales or gnome, elf, or pixie outfit for little boys!

After exploring for 1/2 hour the children get sprinkled with real fairy dust and can make a wish.  They come away with special memories and a little fairy gift.

Back up at the house, the children love looking at the photos on our large tv  and parents have time to peruse the images over a cup of coffee and cake by Midnight Cake Creations.

All in all, a very magical day!
